This is a pretty significant release and seems about as big of a release as Vegas 7 except it's free ;)

FXplug is a big deal. It will be interseting to see a list of supported Motion plugins.

Hehehe- yeah tell me about it! :innocent0007:

The "scopes will also update in real-time during video playback" is something that Vegas had. Very nice :dance1:

What's the whole FXplug thing about?

Btw, thanks for the heads up! You are super-quick with the apple news! :notworthy: Also- really glad to have you here George.

Notta problem...always happy to share the things I am passionate about :)

The FX Plugin architecture originally came to us in the development of Motion and one of it's main features is it's support of GPU processing power. Basically it means that you will get some Motion-like RT GPU-based effects in FCP now. Apparently, not all of the FXplugs for Motion will work in FCP at this release but a majority of them will.

Here is some good info on it: http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/resources/fxplug_partners.html

Indeed, thanks for the heads up on the latest release!

Has anyone seen any reports on issues associated with the release? It's not unknown for a fix for 98% to be a problem for 2%...

I want to go to this update quickly (5.1.1 behaved erratically for me, so I'm on 5.1) but I need to complete my current main project, so maybe in a week.
