I know there have been many threads on music suggestions, so I hope I'm not beating a dead horse.

What is your absolute FAVORITE music you've ever edited a wedding day highlights piece to?

I think this is a great question. (I had thought about posting it myself, but you worded it much better than I had it in my head)

My 2 favorite songs that I WANT a highlight edited to (more for demo purposes, I guess, cause the B&G won't have picked the song) are
"My Wedding Day" by Don Henley (I did do a photo montage of my own wedding to that song, if that counts)
And "Best Seat in the House" by Barry Manilow

I don't actually do the editing in our company, so I guess I can't really answer.

If anyone has their highlight for favorite song they editied to, please post it in the screening room! Love to see them....

I have so many. It really depends on the mood of the day. A day that was emotional and relfective, I love to use Lullaby by (as much as I can't stand them) the Dixie Chicks. And a day that's fun and up beat I like the song Beautiful Life by Fisher i.e. - http://www.evideoproductions.net/recap

I don't really have a favorite, I like to mix it up. However if I get stuck and for the life of me can't get anything going I have some good ol standbys:

What a Difference a Day Made - Tony Bennett
This Guy's in Love With You- Harry Connick Jr.
Grow Old With You- Adam Sandler

Hey Doug, I think that is the song my brother wants his highlight to be done to.

As far as my favorite, I don't have one yet to a favorite song. I let the customer choose the song as it should be something meaningful to them. One thing for sure though, I HATED EDITING TO THE ELVIS SONG!!!!!!

Normally don't you use music from the wedding or ask the couple? How do you know the bride and groom will relate to the music otherwise?

Sonydude,
I think the original poster meant what song you edited to that turned out to be your favorite. (So the B&G probably did pick it out)

But I do have another spin on it. Edit some footage (from one wedding) to a song YOU think is awesome and cool to edit to,(together with THAT footage), to use as a demo.

I would like to use NIN version of "get down make love" or "happiness in slavery" for that matter :dance1: So far it has been "battle without honor or humility" but I chose that. They loved it so, whatever...

A year or two ago, I read some comments (on another site that I've abandoned because I won't pay to give advice) that inferred that "Nara" by E.S. Posthumus was cool but pretty much impossible to use in wedding video, so of course I used it shortly thereafter in a highlights that I think is one of our best.

We have an extensive music library and some songs are more popular than others, but we don't have a "standard" or "favorite". My wife (who heads the Music Selection Committee) feels that correctly matching music to the couple is key to extracting all the feeling of the event. We've used everything thing from Canon in D (does anyone not use this?) to Turkey in the Straw with great results. I'm secretly waiting for a seriously overweight couple with a good sense of humor so I can use Duelling Tubas... :grinning-smiley-021

My favorites are Nora Jones' stuff. "Come Away with Me", to be specific. So slow and sultry is the song that you can make any footage look romantic. It's the easiest song in the world to edit to.
