I wonder how many of you who provide projection equipment (either as part of the package or as an add-on) have extra bulbs you keep as spares.
I don't.
I should.

But I don't.

You?

I've seen times that it has taken a month maybe 6 weeks to get replacement bulbs from suppliers, As there are so many makes and models each using different bulbs. So they don't stock very many, if any. and at between $350 and $500 a bulb (some higher) they would have a fortune tied up in inventory.
So if you don't stock an extra or 2, BEWARE.

If you don't, sooner or later you will seriously wish you had.

Agg.

It's just hard to drop $300+ on something that just sits.

I guess I have to do it, yeah?
suck.

Yeah the prices on bulbs are awfully riducolous. If your gonna stock two of them why not just buy another projector? I don't use projectors but I really want one or two!!

It really makes a LOT of sense to spend a couple thousand on a projector, only to submit it to throwaway status over a $300 lamp, huh?

And, refunding the client your fees after doing everything but replacing the bulb in order to complete your service agreement - THAT should far exceed the cost of a replacement lamp!

We will be adding another projector to our arsenal soon, but it will also have a backup lamp, though I am sure I'll opt to switch projectors during an event situation in the interest of time - changing lamps as soon as I return to base.

Since I don't have a projector, I cannot have a spare projector bulb so that would make me "other"!
