Ok, now that the dates are set, and the location... who is going? Who's not going? Who is undecided?

I'd much rather go to Florida in January than Las Vegas in August. Besides, I don't feel right giving more money to WEVA.
If we go depends on finding babysitters for the rugrats.

I'll go if Joe (from MediaConcepts) will watch my kids while I am gone. j/k.
We will go if I can get my mom to watch the kids. It might be nice to go somewhere other than Tampa and Orlando in Florida. (we go to Tampa 2 or 3 times a years because my in laws live there, and usually end up in Orlando as well, beacuse it's fairly close).

I'm there as well
All things said and done, when it comes right down to it I don't get the impression that the 4EverGroup has anything more to offer me than the other one did/does. I don't see either of them really giving me a sense of belonging to a credible, viable, professional organization that ANY of my clients can relate to. I don't see either providing me with improved marketing strategy that will actually increase my business, my overall knowlege or my marketability.
The ONLY value I perceive in these two, or even WeDJ.com, etc. is the fellowship, association and camaraderie with others who pursue business as independent video producers. On THIS basis ONLY would I pay additional membership fees or expend funds. Rather than attend for any REAL benefits any of these organizations profess to offer me, I'd just as soon treat such a trip entirely as a vacation and enjoy visiting my fellow video businesspeople with THAT focus in mind instead of thinking I'm going to come away GLOWING with newfound information, inspiration or insight.

The last convention seemed more like a gathering of angry ex-weva members. I could be wrong though. But still a smashing success given that it's the first. I get the impression from the 4eg press release that they don't have alot of announcements like that of weva.
I want to attend, just to experience one 4eg convention but can't make it next year.

Count me in, as long as the admission isn't too high. As it is, tahnks to the cost of gas, plane fares are still going up and will continue to do so.
I found a decent deal on Priceline.com flying from BWI to JAX, straight through including the room at the Hyat Jacksonville for about $948.
Just wondering how much more it will cost me with admission.

All depends on $$$. At a guess between airfare, hotel, food and convention expenses, it will easily be a grand.

I think that most with several years under their belt would concur with you Earl. There are very few things for a seasoned videograher to take away from the workshops, but I can honestly say this that Terry and Joe always come home with "something" to enhance their efforts.
As I've said many times before I believe it's so important to be a part of something bigger than yourself. These events attract some of the most successful videographers/studios in the world. Why wouldn't I want to be there to at least "confirm" that I'm doing all I can do to be successful.
I always spend at least an hour or two with Russ Jolly (Pixel Pops) just to pick his brain on the "business end" of their efforts. That time alone is worth the investment for us. Could I do it by phone - sure - but it's just not the same.
The investment - Start saving $200 a month for the next 6 months. I have to believe that $1200 will get anyone to the event.
I think the question has to be asked - If you're full-time at this time or aspire to be - what legitimate reason do you have not to be there?
and don't say because "you've arrived" already - you know what they say about those that believe they have....:hanged:
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday...

I know that participating on forums has increased my knowledge and abilities and that is just through text. I can only imagine the value that attending a convention could bring. I'm going and can't wait!!!
Yes it costs us money, but it is a tax write off and just think what it might do to your abilities!
What I am looking forward to is the list of actual sessions.

Yeah, I'm going to support my friend Josh, from Cinematic Bride, who they've asked to speak at it. Go Josh! Plus, it's here in my hometown, how can I resist?

I think it's well worth it. I have attended a 4Ever Summit and three training seminars sponsored by the 4Ever Group and loved the long indepth courses.
