wow, those people are nutz! Honestly, I don't care which format wins as long as somebody packs it in so there's less confusion.

Personally I've been preaching about HD DVD because it's less expensive without any noticeable loss of quality, and Sony has an extremely poor history with their proprietary formats.

I don't know why, but I also knew the Red Sox would win the world series in 2004, and I knew Bush would defeat Gore. I don't have a crystal ball, but for good or bad, there are some things that I just know. :huh:

So I think the real question is - How many PS3 buyers are really using their PS3 for movies? All I know is I came home and wanted to play Spiderman 3 and my wife was watching Fried Green Tomatoes in HD I'd be sleeping on the couch tonight, but would be doing it while playing spiderman. he he he

We've used our PS3 for a few movies. But here's my caveat... I don't play any PS3 games, and I almost never watch rented movies. I also don't give a rat's behind about high def, at all. I am truly the "uninterested party". I was happy with rabbit ears. I stand by my prediction, BluRay will win out. I just wish they'd hurry up with it, so they can develop the next great thing. As big as the BetaMax/VHS shoot out was, who the heck has VHS now a days? (ok, a few people do, but not a lot.)

But VHS remained dominant for 20 years (give or take a few). It wasn't some disposable format, like the 8 Track. The next format is going to be high def, but I predict it won't stay on a laser disc. I think it will eventually morph into flash memory drives with movies on them. Either way you have to start thinking HD.

Actually he didn't....after the actual count, Gore won but Bush was already appointed president by the supreme court. Your percentage is still pretty good though..:wink2:

They counted the votes in Florida and Bush won. Gore contested the count and Bush won again. The Supreme Court did not appoint him president, they declared that the vote count was legitimate and therefore the election was over.

And that, folks, is why we have HD format wars today - the outcome of the Bush/Gore presidential campaign.

We can go on about our happy ways now, giving no further thought to HD, or what flavor it will come with.

IMHO, as others have said, I believe this will go the way of the R dash and plus formats, with second/third gen systems lower in price and handling both HD formats - leaving open to our individual editing systems and which one (or both) they support, the final decision on what format dominates OUR production output.

Well that, and what system/format our clients have committed to. There was a time when I produced one of each (R dash AND R plus) in an effort to ensure that my clients had one that stood a decent chance of playing in their machine.

Speaking of HD - any guesses on Hilary's chances for nomination/election? :devil-smiley-076:

I am for HD DVD, even though, most things I own is Sony. I don't want a company like Sony to have total control over one format.

PS. Bush won in 2000, get over it. Gore only wanted to recount the 2 democratic counties in Florida, Dade and Broward counties, so he could pick up extra votes and not the entire state. Nice try Gore.

If you Google natural disasters you will learn that some of the greatest natural disasters happened hundreds or thousands of years ago - before the population explosion and before the automobile emissions. Global warming might be a real thing but nobody can prove that's it's going to destroy the earth. The recent natural disasters are no worse than the ones in the past,only now they get more press coverage so they seem more horrible. I think that people who think that we are destroying the planet are people who give themselves an unjustified feeling of self importance. When the earth is sick of us it will shake us off, like fleas on a dog and start all over again with whatever creature crawls from the ocean to the land.

yep ! thats what happened in my country.. never have flood in borneo for decades.. but now every thing has changed, even flood struck in high land some of kalimantan jungle.
tsunamy struck almost half of the country's beach.. even the rain postpone for nearly 5 months!..u have to live in indonesia to 'see' what gore 'see'..guys.
the earth is 'shaking' us off.
