Wow, that is a pretty good deal. $1600 for a solid state camera with 3 1/4'' CCDs. There's a few shoulder-mounted cams that look pretty cheap and durable...

I wonder if AVCHD plays nice with FCP?

The price came down a bit more to $1538. Not sure why the model # is HMC70PJ versus the HMC70OU...can't find the PJ on B&H. But amazon's price is several hundred cheaper than B&H's OU.

I certainly can't justify the purchase, but its damn tempting for a 3rd HD cam....

Just an update on Amazon camera deals...

They have a Canon HV30 for $600 direct from Amazon...pretty good price, mainly because the HV40 is coming out soon...still, an awesome consumer cam for pretty cheap considering...

EDIT:

They also have it on B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/539289-REG/Canon_2680B001_VIXIA_HV30_HDV_Camcorder.html) for the same price with free shipping also...
