I am just wondering if there is a better way to export graphics from after effects to premiere pro to preserve the alpha transparency. Currently I am using the export option of Alpha+RGB exporting as a uncompressed AVI however I am noticing in low opacity and gradient areas there is some black showing.
I know most of the adobe products are quite cross compatible and was wondering if there are other options.
To illustrate the problem I have posted a clip (http://www.inshotproductions.iinet.net.au/photos/alpha_channel_example.wmv), Notice in the spinning logo the black showing through. Also more noticeable at high res there is a slight black stroke around most of the graphics.
(Clip specs. WMV, Size 2.36 mb @ 1120kbps)
Any ideas
Cheers peeps.

What if you exported a series of frames (as TGAs w/transparency) and imported the sequence into Premiere?

Thnx
Someone mentioned that method on dvinfo but said it gets a little messy but If it does the job. Ill give it a go.

It shouldn't be too messy if you simply output into a folder called 'targa sequence' or something.
On the premiere side, when you import the files, premiere will ask you if you want to treat it as one clip instead of 300 separate pictures in your bin. If you say 'yes' then it just imports one clip with those frames as a sequence and you drop it on your timeline the same way you would a movie clip.
Should be pretty simple and clean.
What versions of AE and PPro do you have? If you have the latest you can simply avoid this whole thing by importing the sequence directly into PPro. Otherwise, I have always had the best luck with the QT Animation codec for these purposes.

I'm running AE 6, cool i'll give it ago.
I tried exporting it as frames and it looked pretty messy so i didn't try and import it but i didn't know that you could have PP interpret it as one file.
I think you need to have AE7 to get the Dynamic link functionality. Here is a little video on it: Dynamic Link (http://www.adobe.com/products/vector/ProductionStudio/ProductionStudio.html?contentID=DynamicLink2)

Yeah you need AE 7.. I think Dynamic link though is only available in Production Studio Premium. I'm not sure if just buying AE7 and PPRO2 for example would have Dynamic Link.

Premiere as I recall has never done a good job with Alpha.. For example Digital Juice Editors Toolkits, you need to ignore the alpha channel..

Hmm...I don't think the bundled versions of AE and PPro are any different than the unbundled versions so I think you can in fact use the dynamic link functionality if you have AE 7 and PPro 2.
