What are you doing with your old systems? Trading them in? Keeping them around? With all the uncertainty over what will and won't work with Intel systems, it might be prudent to keep a G5 hanging around just in case,
but then, if you are going to sell you'll never get a better price than now. I expect to see a lot of good Quads go on sale in the near future.

My wife uses both our MBP and our dual 2Ghz G5 tower and she doesn't notice any slow down using the non-universal adobe photoshop and illustrator on the MBP. The MBP was quite a bit faster than our iMac G5 2.1Ghz in photoshop as well. I would say that unless After Effects or a similar hog is a main staple of your workflow, the G5 is unnecessary at this point. Having said that, I certainly wouldn't get rid of a G5 quad for the Mac Pros at this point. Not enough of a performance increase IMO. Rev 2 of the Mac Pro next summer is already on my shopping list though. :)
Cheers,
Scott

You have it pretty much right, Scott...
The issues with Adobe lacking UB versions of their main apps only affects MacTel users and only to a degree. What we're talking about is the difference between native execution and emulation on what are some pretty fast machines. This makes your statement about "After Effects or a similar hog" spot on. This is where it'll show up, with a MacPro not "living up to expectation" vs. a G5 Quad.
And I'm with you on the Rev 2 being a great shopping list item for those with newer G5s. I'm hoping they offer a Kentsfield processor option... :icon_mrgreen:
